Title:Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Author:Mildred D. Taylor Roll Of Thunder is about the story of the fights between black and white people. In this book the kids papa is almost never home. Their mom is a teacher at their school and she teaches History at the beggining so the kids are the most focused. There are these men called the Wallaces and they are the villians in this story. They hate black people and always try to kill or scare them off. The family in this book is all black but back in the old days black people were treated much meaner. Out of five out of five stars I would give this book a 40. I could never put the book down and sometimes I would want to see what happens next:)!
This book takes place in 1933 when there was no more slavery between blacks and whites. Although things had changed long before, some people can’t let some things go. The story is mainly about a girl named Cassie and her three brothers that can hardly see their father because he works on the railroad three quarters of the year. Cassie’s mother just got her dream job of being a teacher. The Wallace’s are whites and are one of the main problems in this story. They own a store where teens hang out at and drink. Just before her father comes home, Cassie goes to the market with her Aunt. Cassie learns an important lesson about segregation but a bigger problem is about to come their way that puts everyone’s lives and fields at stake.
I would give this book a 4 star rating because it is not a very happy book. It ends the way I kind of expected it to, and to me it was rather sad.
